The Beginning

Chris and I became acquainted with each other the summer of '07. The church cafe opened that year and to support it, many of the singles ate Saturday night dinners there. One evening we were talking about being single and one of the hardest things we faced was traveling alone. I said I love to travel and would be happy sometime to go as a traveling buddy. In the fall of '07 we began taking a prayer class and after some emailing we got to know each other better.

The summer of '08 (a year later to my offer) he asked me to join him on a beach trip near my hometown. It was awkward at first but by the end of the trip we felt more at ease and found things that we both liked. For the next 5 months we found a multitude of things to do and many more things in common. By mid Jan. '09 we had decided to officially date. March of that year I had minor surgery and unfortunately became very very ill (I came close to not making it). For the next several months he nursed me back to health with his tender care, concern and prayers. It was during this time we realized how short time really was. On May 29th Chris asked me to marry him. My answer was "for real? yes, of course, what took you so long?" We both waited eight long years for God to find us the right partner and we were right under each others nose for three years. The best part is, we became great friends first before our relationship grew into a love we are sure is going to last the rest of our lives. We are both looking forward to a wonderful future together.

We have hurdles to overcome and two homes to blend, however since God is in the center of everything we do, we know that we have nothing to fear or worry about. The next six and half weeks are going to fly by with much more to accomplish. We aimed for simple but it sort of took on a life of its own. It will still be special and creative. Fortunately we have a wonderful supportive family that wants to help.

By the way future blogs will be much shorter! And not always about our wedding plans. Thanks for being a friend and/or fan.
